Tamil Kavithai Competition – A Tribute to Tamil Language
In celebration of Kavignar Thanjai Vaanan’s 100th year, RRC Global Tours and RRC Academy proudly present the Tamil Kavithai Competition. Open to school students from Thanjavur and surrounding regions, this event invites young poets to showcase their talent and passion for Tamil. Centered on the theme of the language’s richness, pride, and beauty, the competition honors the enduring legacy of a literary icon.

Thanjai Vaanan, the literary name of Thiru Dhurai Srinivasan, was born in 1925 in Melanatham near Mannargudi in Thanjavur District. A proud veteran of the Indian Army and later a Senior Officer in the Cooperative Department, he was passionately devoted to the Tamil language. Rising to fame alongside legends like Kannadasan for his poetic brilliance and originality, he earned a distinguished place in Tamil literary history.
Revered by leaders such as M. Karunanidhi and C.N. Annadurai, he later mentored scholars at Tamil University, Thanjavur. To honor his legacy and to enrich Tamil’s greatness through Tamil poetry, we proudly organize the Tamil Kavithai Competition, nurturing a new generation of voices in Tamil literature.
